Tour Program

8 Days / 7 Nights

Day 1: Arrive Paro

In the clear weather, you will see the magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks i,e Mt.Everest in Nepal, Jumolhari and Jichu Drake peaks in Bhutan. As the aircraft enters the Paro valley, you will see the views of  Paro Dzong over looking Paro Chu (river) with Ta Dzong ( watch tower), now the National museum, above the dzong.  Our local Bhutanese guide will meet and greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon you can visit the Paro Dzong. It was built in 1646 and now houses government offices and religious institutions, as do all the Dzongs (forts) currently. You’ll cross a traditional wooden bridge on the way to the Dzong. Afterward you will visit Kichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the country. In the evening you can stroll through the Paro market and town.  Overnight hotel in Paro

Day 2: Acclimatization Hike to Taktshang (Tiger's Nest) To Thimphu

Today after breakfast, hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, which is Bhutan’s most famous monastery. It is absolutely breathtaking, situated at 10,400 feet and perched on the edge of a steep cliff about 3,000 feet above the Paro Valley. Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown on the back of a tigress from Singye Dzong in Lhuntse to meditate in a cave where Taktsang Monastery now stands. Lunch is served in the Cafeteria Restaurant, located about halfway up the mountain. After having explored the monastery, you will hike down to the valley floor . Drive to Thimphu and check into your hotel.  Later stroll in Thimphu town.

Day 3: Thimphu-Genekha-Gur(Trek Point)

You will begin the day by driving for about 45 min to the beautiful Genekha Village from where your trek starts. The villages is famous for producing masutake and chantarelle mushrooms. You will walk over mule path, through terraced fields and coniferous forests rich with alpine flora and plenty of birds. You will then descend down to the river and after two hours of gradual uphill climb you reach the huge rock platform at 3350m, which offers a picturesque view of the valley. After another two hours of trekking you will reach your campsite at Gur (3,290m), amidst abundance of wild flowers.

Day 4: Gur To Labatama

After Breakfast, continue your trek across the ridges where you will enoy the stunning Mountain Vegetation.  From the Pass descend  through the valley passing some yak herder huts till you reach Utsho Lake where golden trouts are in abundance. The campsite is right next to the lake at 4100. 

Day 5: Labatama Halt

Halt at this place will give you chance to explore Sertsho and  Jagetsho.  Hike uphill to Sertsho Lake is easy and interesting. Afterwards walk over a small ridge and then down to Jagetsho Lake. Lunch will be served to you with spectacular views.  Return to the camp site and prepare for the next trek.

Day 6: Labatama To Pangkha

You will walk along the western side of Dalatsho up to a saddle at (4520m) from where you have a majestic view of the prominent Himalayan peaks such as Everest (Nepal), Kanchenjunga (Sikkim), Masangang, Tiger Mountain, Tsendagang and Jichu Drake in Bhutan. From the saddle the path descends, passing some yak herder huts to Doccha Chuu River. You will follow the river for a while, staying higher up on the slope until you reach Panka. Here the Himalayan monal peasants are common sight, besides yaks and horses. We will camp at Panka (4,000m).

Day 7: Pangkha To Chamgang To Thimphu

After early breakfast, Continue your hike crossing several passes, you will come across different varieties of Blue Poppy (June-July) and mountain birds. You will finally arrive at the main motorable road where your transport will be awaiting to transfer you to Thimphu. Overnight hotel in Thimphu.

Day 8: Thimphu To Paro Departure

After early breakfast,  drive back to Paro airport for your departure.
