Tour Program
6 Days / 5 Nights
Day 1: Paro Arrival Drive to Thimphu
After you arrive at Bhutan’s international airport. After that will visit Ta dzong (watch tower) built in 1951 to use as a watch tower to defend Ringpung dzong and paro valley during the time of war and converted into national museum in 1967 which recorded in UNESCO world heritage. Then will visit paro Ringpung Dzong which is one of the finest example of Bhutanese architecture. If still feel energetic you can take a short walk down to the cantilever bridge. our guide will drive to Thimphu the capital of Bhutan. On the way you can stop to take stop at Tagchogang where you will find 15 century old iron chain bridge built by Thangthong Gyelpo. Evening stroll in Thimphu town. Night stay in Thimphu.
Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing
Today will start our sightseeing with memorial chorten,built in 1974 by her majesty Azhi Phuntsho Choden Wangchuk followed by Bhuddha point where you will see 169 feet high buddha statue. Takin reservation centre to see our Bhutan’s unique national animal, the takin. To see the art work of Zorigchusum(13 traditional arts and crafts) followed by National Library to see world largest published books which says about Bhutan or Folk Heritage Museum to see typical example of traditional farmhouse,Textile Weaving Center at changzamtok and will also visit Bhutan Post where you can make the persobilized stamps. In the evening will visit Trashichho dzong, the beautiful fortress which houses most of the Government’s office and King’s Throne room. It is also the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot. Night stay in Thimphu.
Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha
After breakfast will drive to Punakha which is about 4 hours drive from Thimphu. On the way you will stop at Dochula (3150m) and there you can see 108 Druk Wangyel Chorten. If you wish we can stop for tea and snacks as there is a cafe. You will then drive down further through temperate forests into semitropical range of orange and cactuses. On the way will visit Chimi Lhakhang which was built by Lam Ngawang Chogyal after that place was blessed by his bro Lama Drukpa Kuenley in 15th century (This monk is popularly known as the Devine madman for his philosophy, “Salvation through sex”). He subdued the demons with his “Magical Thunder bolt”. The Temple is also known as “The Temple of Fertility”. When we reach to Punakha we will visit Punakha dzong built on the confluence of Phochu (Male River) and Mochu (Female River). Today it is the winter residence of the Je-khenpho the chief abbot and also serves as the administration center of the Punakha district. Overnight at Punakha.
Day 4: Punakha to Paro
After breakfast will drive to Paro. On reaching Dochula will wait for while and then continue to Thimphu. Will have lunch at Thimphu and continue to Paro on way will visit oldest fortress Simtokha Dzong which was built in 1629. Night stay in paro.
Day 5: Hike to Paro Taktshang(Tigers Nest)
Today take a day hike to the sacred Taktsang Goenpa (tiger’s nest) which was built on the rock face at 900 meters above Paro valley. The history says guru Rinphoche during his second visit to Bhutan in 8th century have flew to the place riding on a tigress to subdue demon Singye Samdrup and meditated here for three months. Later temporary ruler of Bhutan Gyalshe Tenzin Rabgay has built monastery in 16 century. It is one of the most highlighted holy site for the tourist as well it is a place where Bhutanese people belive they must visit once in their life time. After hike from Taktsang you can visit Drukgyal dzong(victory fortress)which was built in 1644 to celebrate the victory over Tibetan invaders and destroyed by the fire in 1951. Then will visit Kyichu Lakhang which dates back to 8th century. Night stay in paro.
Day 6: Drive to Paro Airport and Departure
Depending on your flight departure time early in the morning your guide will take you to airport to see you off onto your flight and wish you good journey.
